In Ohio, there is no "licensing" or formal "certification" for home inspectors. There have been several attempts to pass licensing, but to date, there has been no legislation passed.

The only way a consumer has to ensure an inspector continues with continuing education, has a background to be an inspector, and most importantly, follows a standard of practice and a code of ethics, is to hire an inspector who is a member of a professional organization. We have chosen to be members of NAHI.

NAHI has several levels of inspectors. They are:

Associate member - requires completion of a formal home inspection training and completed 20 or more full fee paid inspections. Associate members must complete 8 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) annually.
Regular Member- requires successful completion of the Associate requirements, performed a minimum of 100 full fee paid inspections and complete 8 CEU's annually.
Certified Real Estate Inspector (CRI)- requires sucessful completion of all regular member requirements, plus completion of 250 full fee paid inspections, and pass the NAHI CRI exam. Members must submit 3 inspections annually and complete 16 CEU's annually and pay additional dues to maintain this status. This is the elite of the NAHI inspectors, and we are proud Calvin is one of them. CRI #200029.

Calvin and Lisa are active members of the Ohio Chapter of NAHI (OC-NAHI) and Calvin is a former member of the board of directors.

NAHI was established in 1987 as a non-profit association to promote and develop the home inspection industry. The mission of NAHI is to promote excellence and professionalism in the Home Inpsection industry; to provide a standard of practice and a code of ethics; to educate its members; and to inform the public of the benefits and scope of a professional home inspection.
